The ASMP's Small Arms Shipments Database contains shipment data on small arms and light weapons licensed for export between 1990 and 2000. The data* was obtained from the State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

Note: A "0" in the quantity column indicates that the State Department had no data on quantity for that particular shipment.

Partial List of Definitions

Firearm: a weapon not over .50 caliber (12.7 mm) which is designed to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or which may be readily converted to do so.
Carbine: a lightweight shoulder firearm with a barrel under 16 inches in length.
Pistol: a hand-operated firearm having a chamber integral with or permanently aligned with the bore.
Revolver: a hand-operated firearm with a revolving cylinder containing chambers for individual cartridges.
Submachine gun, ��machine pistol�� or��machine gun��: a firearm originally designed to fire, or capable of being fired, fully automatically by a single pull of the trigger.
